"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

The Story Unwinds

Good Day To You Mr. Resident

I have followed up a sequence of events and have this information to provide to you.
On July 15th 2008 staff recommended to Council $4800 be provided to locate fifteen additional portable toilets in town parks
.
On a motion by Councillor MacEachern seconded by Councillor Gallo, the recommendation was referred to the Leisure Services Advisory Committee. of which Councillor MacEachern is chair.
Council approved the resolution
.
On September 18th at a meeting of L.S.A.C the recommendation was considered
.
It was moved by Councillor Grainger seconded by Judy Norwell that no portable toilets be placed anywhere in town parks.
The Committee's recommendation would have been approved by Council in a meeting of October or November 2008
In effect, town staff have recommended the provision of portable toilets and town council has denied the recommendation.
The only thing missing from the record is a logical explanation for council's decision not to approve the recommendation.
There is no mystery to uncover. Nor reports to await.
Staff recommended the amenity. Council denied it.
And now you have the indignity of being obliged to witness from your dining room window, the sight of a grown man relieving himself full frontage.
