"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Evelyn, This sentence stands out to me: "We learned golf courses are not covered by the town's bylaw. The Region has jurisdiction." At that point, the issue should be closed. If I read this correctly, no matter what you do to the bylaw is does not matter. Why are we going through this process if the bylaw is not enforceable in this case

**********

It is the essence of politics.

The last council was the ultimate in extremes. They felt they understood. They believed  satisfying the demands of the most vociferous groups and slaying  the naysayer was the formula for success. .

It is part of  politics  It's not all. The secret of success lies in the balance.

Given time they slay themselves.

Yet sleaze is  the popular misconception. The reason politics have a bad reputation among part of the community..

I have spent almost fifty years of my life proving .you can say no with a valid explanation and at times with gusto.

People may still disagree but  honesty always trumps.

It's my rock.

I will be true.
