"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

PRE_EVOLUTION

There was a crooked man who walked a  crooked mile
He found a crooked sixpence on a crooked stile
He bought a crooked cat who caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together in a little crooked house

It's a nursery rhyme that  wasn't originally.
Written in a time when people could neither read nor write.
Political comment was punishable by death.
It refers to the border between England and Scotland and an Army officer responsible for a  religious Covenant that brought a period of piece, signed during the time of Charles 1st.

There's a book of historic rhymes,  Another of the games played by Ayrshire's children down through the ages.Children's songs.have also been collected.

I remember being surprised by something I read about early humans.
I was  surprised that I was surprised.
Pre-historic man  had the same intelligence we do. .
Why did that  surprise  me? They had to be  intelligent How else would  they  have evolved?
The only difference between us is  knowledge.
The comment made by a person surprised by how '"new"
The Petch House looked reminded me of my illogical surprise/
I assumed without basis, people who lived in caves, dressed in animal skins, carried  spears of their own making  were barely capable of thought.
How ridiculous was that?
Now look how far we have evolved
We no longer  have to think for ourselves.
In  modern times.we pay people to do our thinking for us.
They hire consultants to tell them what they should tell us.
And we swallow it hook line and sinker.
A question  asked, is quickly dismissed.or glossed over.
Heaven's to Betsy, people might even start thinking for themselves again.
It would be  like going back in time. Before  modern man evolved.
