"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

So Soon Forgotten...or Never Understood ?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Who Dat?":

Bad advice. It is impossible to communicate with the town's communication dept.

I get that argument all the time.  It may be I'm the only  Member of  Council who believes debate must focus on the question .Personal criticism ,implied or otherwise , prompts a response and the  member or members responsible are breaking the rules.

Opportunity  to oppose a motion is restricted only by time.

I do take advantage of opportunity to oppose a motion With bells on.

Council members are not  to  engage in personal  slag-fests.

Name-calling is not a skill.

Casting aspersions against one another during debate takes no courage  at all.

When the Presiding member joins the attack, all resources of the moment are marshaled  against a
person who dares  to  express an idea that offends. Who says everything has to be agreeable

Is there something familiar here?

Are we watching history repeat itself  so soon ?

I defended Councillor Gaertner last night .

It's easier to defend someone else than to defend oneself.

It may be opinion in Aurora  that a member of council  cannot speak frankly and freely,
without fear or favour, is wider than we thought.

Both " sides " use the same tactics. That is perfectly normal. But it is interesting to note how many items just keep turning up again at council. They certainly are not all Cllr Gaertner's pets. The Heritage Park issue refused to go away and recently the Oak Ridges Morraine is being pushed forward on different angles.

The Auroran is up

Councillor Thompson reminds me of a cross between that Eagle on the Muppets and a certain Dickins' character. He is sooo soporific.

I have just about concluded that we don't really need the October election.

Let's stick with the incompetents we have rather than risk a different bunch, or half a bunch or whatever fraction. Sometimes it's best to take what you know than risk everything for the unknown.

Gallo will be gone unless he changes his mind and runs for council and whoever council picks on the 29th to fill Ballard's seat should fill it permanently. So we only need to replace Gallo. No one whose name ends in "o."

There's still some Morraine?

It's not just the morraine issue hat pops up that bothers me.The council went on sand .pn. about 3 trees and write lost 3 acres and more. And notja word was said. What is up with that.

@22:20
A question for you. If Gallo flips & runs for councillor, does he have to return money collected for his run for mayor ?

22:20- It doesn't matter what we think we need anymore. Government will tell us what we need and what we want when they want to! You see they have this policy and it's part of their strategic plan. It's to "improve our quality of life"

Heck, I'm still trying to figure out why Duffy has been charged over that $90,000 and Nigel Wright is left out of it. It's alright to give the money but not to take it ?

I thought you were not going to post disparaging comments about your fellow councillors? Does Thompson not count?

What a silly meeting that was. I have not finished viewing the tape yet but it seems utterly useless. Still on Item 2 with no end in sight............sigh...
