"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

IN YOUR HIDING PLACE ,YOU SHALL BE CAUGHT

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "YES, VIRGINIA DARLING...INDEED THEY HAVE":

"Within the same Council term, the town accepted the large rusty key for the contaminated shack, redundant to the federal government, for just a smidgeon more than half a million dollars."

I recall that you made sure to include yourself at the photo op, though.

Response like this comes across on a regular basis. You know... the  school yard ya-da-ya-ya.

The challenge is not yet taken up though to make a list of accomplishments for the last
two terms of Council. Obviously the cat has their tongues.

Return of that property to town ownership after a century of purloined use by the Feds, might
have been something, had the town not handed over half a million dollars in exchange.

Considering  town needs were set aside to acommodate Queen's York Rangers and the drill
shed was listed as a contaminated site, there can be no dispute the town's advantage was
not represented in the deal.

Everyone's needs were tended except those they committed to serve.

The CAO informed  Council, if we did not purchase the property it would be offered for sale in the private sector. DND asked for heritage designation before deciding on disposition. It's hard to
determine  precisely who, if anyone, was doing the thinking here. They sure as hell were not listening.

Two things were certain, contaminated listing and total lack of facility to meet any zoning category on the books, without a doubt, ruled out any private sector use.

Three out of four directors could have advised Council of these facts.,

The building wasn't worth a nickel on the market.

The normal transaction between governments in the circumstances, is for title to be exchanged for the nominal fee of $1.00

I have never argued against the town taking back ownership of the property.

If however the argument is, our interest was served by forfeiting the hydro building and paying a ransom for the Armouries, my response must perforce be rude and crude ,abrupt and obscene.

Choose your language . We meet at dawn.
